I do love Google Analytics

Posted in Uncategorized by scarsonmsm on July 25, 2007

I’m not sure how well it works for high-traffic sites, but I do love having Google Analytics on tOFP. It may count way fewer visits than Webalizer, but I can see visitor are averaging nearly four pages a visit, and there’s nothing like a full list of search terms from the past month to let you know the right people are finding your site:

tOFP by the numbers [ June 07 ]

Posted in Uncategorized by scarsonmsm on July 8, 2007

I haven’t really had the chance to dig into the numbers much, but last month was a banner month for tOFP, with nearly 20,000 visits, as Webalizer counts them anyway. But going with the theory that the trend is the important thing, it must be good news. 66 copies of the tOFP [ Print ] edition as well.

Here’s the snapshot:

Here are the details.

Captures the moment

I’m still laughing as I type this post. David Pogue on the iPhone.

En fuego!

“Please don’t sue” is always tops on my copyright strategy list. I doubt he’d get sued for this, but I’m sure Cal Tech will pull it if it gets too much buzz, so get it while it’s hot!

OER influences

Posted in Uncategorized by scarsonmsm on July 2, 2007

I’ve posted a sketch of basic influences on the OER movement over on Wide Open Education. I’m writing for a general audience over there, so it is necessarily on the oversimplified side, but I’d love feedback on where it does and doesn’t work.
